The Creation Process
Hi, I’m Susie, founder and designer of SUSI.
I’ve always loved rings. I love that anyone can wear them, whether it’s one understated piece or several statement rings. For me, jewellery should be more than something beautiful. It should have meaning, tell a story and be something you treasure for years.
SUSI began after my first family holiday to Bali in 2023. I was so impressed by the craftsmanship of the jewellery that, with the help of our family friend Ketut, I began searching for skilled jewellers who could bring my designs to life. After several trips, lots of research and many sketches, SUSI started taking shape.
The name came about quite unexpectedly. Originally called Bendiceda, meaning blessed in Spanish, the business became SUSI when the Balinese jewellers began spelling my name that way on my digital ring designs. SUSI is the Indonesian form of Susie, and it felt like a lovely connection to the people bringing my ideas to life.
My designs are inspired by architecture, history, art and meaningful symbols from Spain, Italy, Greece, France and the UK. My first inspiration was the striped arches of the Mosque–Cathedral of Córdoba, which influenced not only my Córdoba ring but also the SUSI logo and packaging.
Designed in Australia and handcrafted in Bali, SUSI rings are made from solid sterling silver, with selected designs featuring solid 18ct gold, natural gemstones or shell. I love mixing silver and gold, creating versatile pieces that complement both metals.
I believe in jewellery made from genuine precious metals and natural stones — pieces that are meaningful, enduring and made to be treasured for a lifetime. That's why SUSI rings are created in small batches, with the hope that they become treasured pieces and passed down through generations.
